What is Christianity?

Christianity is a response to God who has shown himself to the world through history. God says in the Bible the words are his words (Deut 4:2, 2Pet 1:21). It s written and preserved for us (Is 40:8), to tell us who he is (Ex 34:6, 7), and who we are (Gen 1:26 ), so we can know Him and know ourselves. (Psa 119, Isa 53:6) The Bible proves its own authority and Gods reality through prophecy.

Who is God?
God says in the Bible, he is a creator God (Gen 1). That he created the universe for mankind out of nothing (John 1:3). It didn’t pre exist. That he is the only God there is, ever has been, or ever will be (Is 4:6). He explains he is not a man, he is spirit, always was (Job 4:24 ). He shows us that there are three forming one God, each with a personality, character, and identity. The Bible teaches that the “Son” is the God who has always interacted with Man from Creation and Adam to the time of Jesus, and now the Holy Ghost (the comforter) is sent to indwell me.

Why is the world like it is?
When God created the heavens and life (Gen 1-2), sin entered into the creation through a created angel named Satan (Is 14:12-15). Before he fell Satan was given a position next to God, full of knowledge and understanding. Satan desired to “be like God” (the first sin). Adam and Eve then fell to Satan’s tempting (Gen 3) and also sinned. The effect of sin has caused the death and destruction we see in this world (Gen 3:17-19). Christians are taught in the Bible to love and have charity for others without expectation of return or consideration (Is 58:6-9).

Why will mankind be in torment?
The Bible teaches there are only two places to be, (Rev 20:12-15) ‘with God’ and “without God” (Heaven and Torment). God created a place, separate from himself where Satan would be punished and tormented for eternity. Because life continues even after our earthly death, a sinner must spend eternity without God (“in the place of torment”) created for Satan. God provided a way for man to escape torment and although having sinned, still enter the presence of God. Repenting of sin and allowing the faith given us to honor God by acknowledging the gospel, enables God to redeem us through the blood of Jesus shed on the cross. (Rom 3:23, Rom 6:23, Rom 10:13).

Why I chose Christianity:
It is obvious to me that man did not “just evolve” there are to many things required to support life that had to be present before life came into being. There has to be a creator. So I looked for evidence of a creator where he described himself and proves through miracles, his statements are true. Only the God of the Bible meets these requirements and proves himself.

The Bible specifically teaches of the creator God who can intervene in our life, Heaven or a lake of fire awaiting each person, and the offering of redemption through Jesus Christ’s work on the cross.
