Thought of the Month: Ever get so busy that we do not take the time to pray, or ever feel that we cant pray for one reason or another? I believe these things are one of the ways that Satan attacks us and sidetracks us from being close to God. He brings about doubt and feelings of unworthiness. Sets up obstacles in our day to upset our routine. Do not let this side track us from prayer but draw us to prayer. We should let every pain, trial, sorrow, and weakness draw us to God. Not hinder our relationship. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8). God loved us enough to die for us while we were yet sinners and unlovable. Now that we are saved these obstacles should drive us to pray more. |

What is the difference between going to a church and listening to a sermon on the radio, or watching one on TV? A church is more then just a place to hear a Sunday morning sermon, or a place to meet new people. The old phrase “actions speak louder then words” apply to so many parts of life. Telling God that he is important to you is a good thing, showing God that he is important is better. Attending a church service is just one small part in worshiping God. First it is a statement to God that he is important enough to you that you are willing to go someplace to worship him. Yes it can be a struggle to get the kids up and ready on Sunday Morning, people who work the night shift would rather go to sleep. There is a long list of reasons why it can be difficult to attend morning services, yet when we overcome these obstacles we are showing God how important he is to us. 1 Peter 3:8 "Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:" 1 Peter 1:22 "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:" Loving the brethren or fellow believers is another way of worshiping God. Attending a church, and getting involved by; encouraging, strengthening, and helping each other is showing God that you Love him. Christ created us and loves us deeply, when we get involved in caring for and loving his creation we are pleasing to God. Attending a church gives us the opportunity to interact with other believers. When you feel down and are struggling with your trials, it allows others the opportunity to reach out and encourage. When a family member is ill or in the hospital you have a church family that can reach out, help, and pray. Acts 4:34 gives us the example of how church members are to provide and care for each other. When you get involved in a church the pastor get’s an opportunity to know you personally, and learns what you and your family need. The Pastor knows what trials, and struggles you are going through. This allows the pastor to deliver sermons, and lessons that apply to you and your needs. While you can download sermons on the internet, attending a church provides you with an opportunity to minister to other and to be ministered to. There are reasons why it is not possible to attend services. That is why Temple Baptist is using modern technology to enable people to participate in services even when they are not able to be there physically. We have a conference line set up so people can call in, and fellowship with members, participate in the song service, and hear the message. Temple Baptist will start webcasting services soon so that people can watch the service from home. These ministries are not to replace the church, but to allow the church to reach out to those who can not attend. This is different from watching a service on TV as you are able to be a part of the service from home. | ||||||||
